You’ve heard of bottomless brunch… but what about free-flowing lunch?
Bottomless brunch – i.e. brunch with unlimited Prosecco to wash it down with – has been a London rite of passage for some time now. Now that it’s become a normal part of London life, it’s almost impossible to imagine a time when it wasn’t a thing.
But why stop at brunch?
Several of London’s best restaurants have clearly wondered the same thing and are beginning to make lunch the new brunch. Take its inspiration from London’s favourite meal of the week(end), free-flowing lunch is exactly what it sounds like and seems so obvious that you wonder how it isn’t a widespread thing already.
If you’re a follow prosecco lover, this is one you won’t want to miss…
A lunch with unlimited prosecco?
It’s one of those things that almost sounds too good to be true. But I promise it’s not – for 90 minutes, you can now get unlimited bubbly top-ups while you eat at a selection of London restaurants (check out the full list on Bookatable).
If bottomless brunch changed the way we eat out at weekends, free-flowing lunch will make sure it stays this way for a while. Best of all, it now means you have an extra couple of hours to get over the Friday night hangover too.
Free-flowing lunch at M Victoria Street
After enjoying the tastiest buttermilk chicken at M Thredneedle St a few months ago, there was only one place I was heading for free-flowing lunch. I took my parents to M Victoria St for a returning home treat, so that they could taste the food for themselves (and we could all enjoy the bubbles). I knew the food would be amazing – and it sure was.
The four courses on the free-flowing menu were modestly-sized but filled with flavour – the kind of food you don’t need a lot of but could eat for days. It’s well worth the £36.50 per head that the 4-course menu costs without even popping the cork on the Prosecco. The fact that you get unlimited Prosecco for the first hour and a half if incredible.
Although the free-flowing menu is (understandably) restricted, M has made sure there’s something for everyone. The buttermilk chicken that made me fall in love with M in the first place is one of the starter options, while the mains choices cover everything from fish to steak.
As far as food and drink trends go, this is one I hope will stick around. As much as I love a good bottomless brunch, starting a few hours later means you don’t have to worry about being hit by an afternoon snooze-fest. Plus, you can go straight on to cocktails after!
Whether you live in London or you’re just visiting for a few days, don’t make another lunch reservation without checking out the deals at Bookatable. Even if you’re not really a lunch kind of person, there are plenty of other free-flowing options on there – from afternoon tea to free-flowing cocktails (yes, really!) – showing that unlimited Prosecco is here to stay. I’ll drink to that!
