For me, immersive travel will always be the best kind of travel.
I don’t count countries (until someone asks me to!) because I value quality over quantity everywhere I go. That means travelling slowly, returning to places I’ve already been and immersing myself in the local culture.
For me, travel is most rewarding when I can connect with new people, ponder new ideas and experience new things. That’s why you’ll find plenty of tips for having deeper, more meaningful travel experiences on this travel blog.
Some of the themes you’ll come across include:
- Cultural immersion: My immersive travel itineraries will show you how to see a place at its best, rather than the best things to do.
- Experiential travel: The best way to learn about a new culture is by experiencing it yourself. From foodie guides to local traditions, I love finding the unique experiences a destination has to offer.
- Insider guides: Helping you to see each place through a local’s eyes, my destination guides will help you have the most authentic and immersive travel experience possible.

My favourite unique travel experiences around the world:
It’s hard to narrow down my favourite experiences around the world. The blog posts below cover natural wonders, wildlife encounters and a festival with a positive message. The thing they all have in common is that they were all rewarding.

How to have more immersive travel experiences
The easiest way to have a more meaningful travel experience is to immerse yourself in a new culture.
You don’t need to wait until you travel, though. There are plenty of ways to immerse yourself in another culture from your own home.
Here are 25 of my favourite tried and tested ways to learn about different cultures around the world when you’re not on the road. You can use them to prepare for your next trip, re-live your last one or simply broaden your horizons.
The road less travelled...
Authentic travel experiences are everywhere – but they’re not always easy to find. Here are some of my favourite places to get off the beaten, discover new cultures and have a totally unique experience.
FILANDIA, COLOMBIA
This coffee axis town is still quieter and quainter than Salento – and much more authentic.
CHIAPAS, MEXICO
A lesser travelled region of Mexico, Chiapas is full of natural beauty and untouched towns.
ESWATINI
Full of unique experiences, travelling Eswatini is an unforgettable adventure.
Discover an unlikely foodie hotspot
You can learn a lot about a destination through its food.
Whether you’re visiting a well-known foodie capital or not, taste is a powerful sense. From cooking with locals to sampling street food, some of my favourite travel experiences have involved food.
These destinations may not be known for their cuisine, but their unique culinary experiences promise a treat for foodies and and non-foodies alike.
