I get asked a LOT of questions about the vlogging cameras and other blogging gear I use, so here it all is! I'll be keeping this page up to date with all my new vlogging equipment and other tech I travel with to keep my blog and YouTube running. Blogging & Vlogging Cameras
Canon 5D Mark iii
My blogging journey started on an Olympus Pen E-PL1 before progressing to a crop sensor Canon 700D.
I finally made the switch to full-frame Canon 5D Mark iii in January 2017 for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I was getting serious about learning photography and wanted to put some money in to push myself further and hold myself accountable! And secondly - the more practical reason - because I needed a camera that could hold its own indoors and in other low-light conditions.
It's not the lightest camera for travel, but worth carrying the extra weight.
My main vlogging camera, nearly all of my YouTube channel has been shot on this since July 2018.
Canon G7X Mark ii
My original vlogging camera and a FANTASTIC vlogging camera for beginners. I still carry this one around for "risky" situations (a because it fits in my pocket).
GoPro Hero 4
I couldn't get the underwater and action shots without it.
3 Legged Thing Billy Tripod
A carbon fibre tripod that's sturdy but not too heavy.
Super handy for standing the vlogging camera up and impromptu photoshoots.
Manfrotto Street Backpack Medium
How I carry all my blogging and vlogging gear around. Also my main hand luggage bag.
For super smooth vlogs and cinematic shots.
Rode VideoMicro (microphone)
One of the main reasons why I switched my vlogging camera was an external mic input. This is the BEST mic ever (and super cheap).
SanDisk Extreme Pro
The only SD cards I use for both photography and video.
All the other bits and bobs I couldn't blog or vlog without...
HP Spectre X360
It's not the cheapest laptop around, but it's the best laptop I've ever used by far. Working for myself and travelling full-time, I need a laptop that's powerful enough to handle video editing but portable enough to use on planes. This one has it all.
SanDisk Extreme 500GB SSD
I can't take any risks with my work - if I lose it, it's gone forever. That's why everything that matters gets backed up on here.
I pay for Prime for the (unlimited!) photo storage, and the movies, music and unlimited next day delivery are just a bonus.
Adobe Creative Cloud
It's safe to say I get my $30's worth every month with this one! Like any photographer, I edit all my photos in Lightroom (and occasionally dip into PhotoShop, too). I've edited my vlogs on Premiere Pro from the beginning and know nothing else.
